Journalists are always at the forefront, preparing objective information from the scene! There are rules for the immunity of journalists during conflicts. However, Russian criminals systematically violate them by carrying out targeted attacks on editorial offices and media workers.
Last October, the Kharkiv Reikartz Hotel, where Ukrainian and foreign journalists always gathered, was attacked. The first presentation of the Kharkiv Press Club's project "Kharkiv Region: Destroyed but Unbreakable" took place there. A month later, on December 30, a rocket attack was carried out on the Kharkiv Palace Hotel, which is also located in the central part of Kharkiv. Foreign journalists were staying there. During the missile attack, a citizen of Ukraine, as well as a journalist from the German ZDF, was injured. She suffered bruises and closed fractures. The office of the Simon TV and radio company, located next to the hotel, was heavily damaged. On January 10, 2024, the Park Hotel was shelled. In addition to civilians, journalists from Georgia and Turkey were injured in the explosion. Foreign journalists were staying in all these hotels on a regular basis. There was a short period of time between the attacks. Therefore, we believe that the Russians wanted to intimidate foreign journalists staying in the Kharkiv region. The attacks on hotels may indicate that journalists were the target of the Russians during the missile attacks. But local journalists suffer even more from the shelling.
